Functional reliability under a water pressure of up to 30 bar (300 metres), good readability even in adverse visual conditions and accuracy are indispensable features of a reliable diver’s watch. The DSub range from Damasko goes even further. The sporty, masculine bead-blasted case is made in-house using special submarine steel – sourced exclusively from German production. Submarine steel is characterised not just by extreme solidity and its non-magnetic quality, but additionally by its unique high level of corrosion resistance even when used in sea water for long periods. At the same time, submarine steel is extremely crack-resistant due to its ductility (special material flexibility under load). The bezel, crown and case-back are all made from Damasko's submarine steel.
All stainless steel components are treated with an abrasion-proof black patented DAMEST Coating providing extreme resistance to scratches.
The unidirectional rotating bezel with integrated ceramic ball raster elements and a white colored diving scale allows the elapsed diving time to be read reliably, which enables exact planning of the vital decompression phases. The black bezel insert is treated with Damasko's DAMEST coating for added strength and scratch resistance. Exact positioning of the bezel is achieved by the use of three ceramic detent bodies, submerged in specially made grooves. The scale on the bezel ring is not printed, as is conventional practice, but lasered in-house and filled with white multi-component paint. This prevents abrasion or chipping of the paint in the long-term. There is a sealed luminous dot at the 12 o'clock position.
All gaskets used in the case are made from Viton™ which offers a premium chemical resistance and is superior to most other materials used in the watch industry. The case is water resistant to 300 meters and features curved lugs for a more comfortable fit on various wrist sizes. It also has drilled through lugs for quick and easy strap changes. A scratch resistant double domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment ensures maximum readability of the dial in all lighting conditions. The matte dial has white minute indexes with a large trapezoid-shaped index marker at the 12 o'clock position. The white hour markers are coated with the luminous compound Luminova™ C1 Grade X1 (white). The sword shaped hour, minute and second hands are also coated with Luminova™ C1 Grade X1. Another impressive fine detail to the dial is the date window which is located at the 4 o'clock position and color coded to match the dial color.
The screw-down crown uses the patented DAMASKO crown system with crown protection and can be used under water without any problem. The crown is hardened, screwed down and triple-sealed for maximum protection. In its screwed-down state, the setting stem is disengaged from the crown, ensuring that no pressure, impacts or vibrations are passed on to the piece. The patented DAMASKO lubricant cell supports the crown shaft and provides it with a fine film of lubricant, which lasts for many years.
The watch is powered by a tried and tested in-house German manufactory movement - Damasko A26-2. This is a self-winding movement with bidirectional pawl winding and a power reserve of 42 hours. It is regulated to high precision by Damasko in 3 positions. This movement is shockproof according to DIN 8308 and anti-magnetic according to DIN 8309.
A very comfortable waterproof "Sport" black rubber strap with a signed bead-blasted deployment buckle is included with the Damasko DSub50.
With the application of multiple patented technologies, Damasko has raised the bar in terms of performance and durability of the classic dive watch. Hand crafted in Germany, with innovative quality and clean aesthetics, these unique dive watches will never let you down.
